About Aqueduct Horse Racing Betting

Aqueduct, known as “The Big A” to horseplayers is located in Ozone Park, New York and has been open since 1894. Aqueduct has a 1 1/8 mile dirt main track and a turf course that measures seven furlongs.

When Does Aqueduct Race?

Racing will be conducted nearly the entire year at Aqueduct in 2025 except during the Saratoga meeting. Saratoga will host the Belmont Stakes Festival from June 4 to 8. The regular Saratoga meeting runs from July 10 until September 1.

What Are the Big Races at Aqueduct?

With Belmont Park closed for renovation, many of the big races have been shifted to Aqueduct and Saratoga. Among the big races at Aqueduct is the Wood Memorial (G2), the key Road to the Kentucky Derby points race in New York each spring.

Other key races at Aqueduct include:

Withers Stakes:

A prep race for the Kentucky Derby, offering qualifying points. It’s held in early February, typically with a race distance of 1 1/16 miles.

Jerome Stakes:

Another Kentucky Derby prep race, this one usually marks the beginning of the Derby trail at Aqueduct. It’s generally run in early January over a one-mile distance.

Cigar Mile:

Named after the famous racehorse Cigar, this Grade 1 race is the highlight of the fall/winter meet at Aqueduct. It’s traditionally held on the first Saturday in December, with a distance of one mile.

Toboggan Stakes:

Run over a distance of six furlongs, this race has a history of attracting top sprinters. It’s typically held in early February.

Ruthless Stakes:
