Saratoga Race Course is located in Saratoga Springs, New York and has been conducting horse racing for over 150 years. It is considered one of the most prestigious race meets of the year. The track is one of three major racetracks run by the New York Racing Association along with Aqueduct and Belmont Park.
With Belmont Park under renovation, the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival will take place at Saratoga from Wednesday, June 4, through Sunday, June 8. The Belmont Stakes will be run on Saturday, June 7. In 2025 Saratoga has also added the July 4th Racing Festival from Thursday July 3 through Sunday, July 6. The regular summer meeting at Saratoga is from July 10 to September 1.
With Belmont Park closed for renovation, many of the big races have been shifted to Aqueduct and Saratoga. Some of the marquee races to be run at Saratoga in 2025 include:
Belmont Stakes: This prestigious race, part of the Triple Crown, will be held at Saratoga on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Jim Dandy Stakes: A key prep race for the Travers Stakes, usually held a few weeks before the Travers to give fans and bettors a preview of potential contenders.
Alabama Stakes: This race is one of the premier events for three-year-old fillies, with a rich history and a significant place in the racing calendar.
Travers Stakes: Known as the “Midsummer Derby,” this is one of the oldest major thoroughbred horse races in the United States. It’s traditionally held on the fourth Saturday of the Saratoga meet, which in 2025 is August 23.
Whitney Stakes: A Grade 1 race attracting top older horses, set for August 2, 2025.
Jockey Club Gold Cup (for 2025 only, due to renovations at Belmont Park): This race has a storied history and is a major event for older horses, providing a significant test of endurance.
