Defending Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) and Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1) winner Forever Young (JPN) has been installed as the 5-2 favorite for the second of two future wagers on this year’s $7 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). Pool #2 of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager will open on Friday, Sept. 25, at 12 p.m. ET and will close on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. ET.

The Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager Pool #2 will enable fans to bet on 18 wagering interests for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic well in advance of the Oct. 31 race date. Odds on horses in the future pools typically provide more value to horseplayers than those available on race day. This year’s Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic will be run at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky., as a part of the 43rd Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
The Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager Pool #2 will consist of 17 unique wagering interests and one “All Others” wager for a total of 18 betting interests. “All Others” includes all Thoroughbreds other than the pool’s individual horses.
Betting on all Breeders’ Cup Future Wagers will be offered via Breeders’ Cup partner FanDuel, and other advance-deposit wagering (“ADW”) sites, racetracks, casinos, simulcast centers, and off-track betting sites.
After nearly a six-month layoff, Forever Young (#3) returned to the races last Friday on the opening day of the new Belmont Park and won the Jockey Club Gold Cup by 3 ¼ lengths. He is followed in the Longines Classic Future Wager by 3-1 second choice Sovereignty (#16), last year’s Kentucky Derby (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1) winner, and this year’s Whitney Stakes (G1) winner. Pacific Classic Stakes (G1) winner Knightsbridge (#6) is next at 6-1, followed by this year’s Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner, Golden Tempo (#5), at 8-1. He is followed by Dubai World Cup (G1) and Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) winner Magnitude (#7) at 10-1. Further Ado (#4), winner of the Blue Grass Stakes (G1) and runner-up in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1), is next at 12-1, followed by Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Napoleon Solo (#8) at 15-1.
Sovereignty was the 3-1 favorite at the close of Pool #1 of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager on Aug. 30, with a will pay of $8.04 on a $2 wager. Forever Young closed as the 9-2 second choice in Pool #1, with a will pay of $11.04.
