“When we broke from the gate, I knew I had the horse and it was just a matter of getting the trip,” said winning rider Joseph Ramos. “It was just about how quick they would go the first half. I kept her in the clear, but I also did not want to lose ground. I knew I had the horse, it was just about the trip and staying clear, so we could get there on time. I had to be patient and trust my filly. She was awesome today.”

The Delaware Handicap is a Breeders’ Cup Dirt Dozen Bonus Series race for the $2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff on October 31 at Keeneland. The top three finishers receive credits toward Distaff entry fees: $30,000 for first, $15,000 for second and $7,500 for third.

“He has been on the cusp of it for the last couple of races, so I am glad he got it done,” said winning trainer Henry Walters. “I was nervous. They were strung out pretty good and I was just hoping he would kick it in and he did. He recovers pretty quickly, so we will point for his next start to be Laurel in a few weeks.”

Barbadian Runner raised his career record to ten wins from 26 starts with earnings of $1,100,280.

Whitten Way scores in White Clay Creek Stakes

Wilmington, Del., October 3, 2026 — Eagle Up III, London Reid Thoroughbreds and Non Stop Stable’s Whitten Way persevered to score her second career stake victory in the $160,000 White Clay Creek Stakes at Delaware Park today.

With Emanuel Rosario aboard, the 2-year-old daughter of Game Winner prevailed by 1 ½-lengths over, Life Changing with Samuel Marin, in second. It was another 3/4-lengths farther back to My Hometown Gal, with Raul Mena, in third. The 4-to-5 favorite, Girvy Girl with Micah Husbands, finished sixth.

On August 8, she won the six furlong $75,000 Blue Hen Stakes at Delaware Park. She raised her record to three wins from four starts with earnings of $196,250.

“This family is just incredible, they keep producing,” said winning trainer Gary Capuano. “Stretching out is the big thing. She trained really well coming into this race. She had a nice mile workout and I knew she was fit, so it was just a matter of getting the right kind of trip. We will likely point for a race in Maryland for her next start.”
