A full array of betting opportunities will be available to Del Mar fans when the seaside oval launches its 87th summer season on Friday, July 17.

The wagering menu begins with the traditional Win/Place/Show bets and extends out to six different multi-race exotics, including the Early and Late Pick Four, the Early and Late Pick Five and the lucrative Pick Six.

New to the betting options this season is the $3 All Turf Pick 3. Del Mar’s deep turf fields should make this wager especially attractive, as it will be offered on the final three grass races on each day’s card. The wager will carry a player-friendly takeout of 15%.

The Pick Six, a fan favorite that on occasion has provided life-changing payoffs, will provide an 80-20 split for winners and runners-up. The $2 wager will be presented on the last six offerings on the card.

“We’re anticipating another summer season of large wagering pools and big payouts,” noted Del Mar’s Director of Mutuels, Bill Navaro. “From Show bets to multi-race exotics, there’s something for everyone at Del Mar.”

Two Minute Cutoff in Win Pool For CAWs

The track’s officials have noted that they again will institute a two-minute cutoff in the Win Pool for CAW wagering as part of Del Mar’s efforts to limit odds volatility and enhance the wagering experience for all its customers.

Here’s the full arrangement of Del Mar bets: $2 Win, Place, Show (all races); $1 Exacta (all); $2 Quinella (all); $2 Rolling Doubles (all except last); $1 Rolling Pick 3 (all except last two); $1 Superfecta (10-cent minimum – all); $1 Place Pick all (starts w/ Race 1 or 2); 50-cent Super High Five (last); $2 Pick Six (last six); 50-cent Players’ Pick 5 (first five and last five); 50-cent Pick 4 (Races 2 thru 5 and last four); $3 All Turf Pick 3 (last three turf races), and $2 Win-Place-Show Parlay (all races but last).

Del Mar’s most popular wagers continue to be the Late Pick Four and the Late Pick Five. Both bets regularly generate $1-million-plus pools on weekends, often resulting in four-figure and five-figure payouts.

Del Mar will open its summer season with a three-day weekend (July 17, 18, 19), then go into its regular four-day weeks (Thursday through Sunday) for the balance of the meet, up until closing weekend when the Labor Day Monday (Sept. 7) holiday is added.

First post daily will be 2 p.m. for all days right up until closing Saturday, Sunday and Monday when it will shift to 1:30 p.m.
