Pace Projector
The Pace Projector is a tool used in horse racing to help handicappers envision how a race might unfold based on the running styles of the horses involved. It analyzes factors like a horse’s preferred running style, speed, and positioning to predict the early pace of the race.
- •Running Style: Each horse has a preferred way of running, like being a front-runner or a late closer. The pace projector considers whether the likely pace of the race complements or compromises each horse’s style.
- •Early Pace vs. Late Speed: For dirt races, early pace is crucial, as it can set the tone for the race’s dynamics. On turf, late speed and class become more significant, as the race may unfold differently.
- •Forecasting: The pace projector helps handicappers forecast which horses will likely set the pace, and which will rally from behind, allowing them to make informed predictions about the race’s outcome.
Understanding the pace can give you an edge in picking contenders, as it reveals how the race dynamics might favor or hinder certain horses.
Finish Projector
The visual representation of the field’s projected finishing positions. We use our algorithms to create a points system to rank each horse in the race, with reliance on TimeformUS Speed Figures and our Early Pace Projector. The more races a horse has, the more relevant the rating. When horses have limited starts, we use trainer data to enhance the projections.
- Larger margins between horses on this projector denote higher confidence, whereas the horses will be bunched together when the algorithm doesn’t separate the horses as easily.
- Finish Position Projections are not available until the card goes final, typically 36-48 hours before the race.
Projected Odds
Projected Odds are estimates provided to give bettors an idea of what the final odds might be before a race starts. These odds are calculated based on various factors, including horse performance, trainer and jockey statistics, and other relevant data. Here’s how they help:
- Predictive Insight: Projected odds offer a forecast of the betting market, helping you anticipate how popular a horse might be among bettors.
- Strategic Decision-Making: By understanding projected odds, you can identify horses that may offer value betting opportunities—those whose odds might be favorable compared to their actual chances of winning.
Using projected odds can be a valuable tool in crafting your betting strategy, allowing you to make more informed decisions.
Daily Racing Form Expert Picks
For North American thoroughbred tracks, we are now displaying Expert Picks and a Consensus. Among the top handicappers who are offering their selections are David Aragona, Mike Beer and Kenny Peck.
The Racing Program
The display of the Racing Program for each race is customizable with an abundance of additional handicapping features.
Basic: This view will give you the essential basics: odds, projected odds, horse name, jockey, trainer, medication and weight.
Advanced: In addition to everything shown in Basic, you can also view more information about each horse including age and breeding information.
Power & Class: This view will give you the Power Rating, Average Class and Last Class of each horse in the race.
Speed: This view displays Average Speed, Speed at Distance and Top Speed for each horse in the race.
Pace: This view displays Pace Early, Pace Mid and pace end for each participant.
Lifetime Stats: Displays the Lifetime Record of each horse showing Wins, Places and Shows.
Jockey/Trainer Combined: This displays Jockey Starts, Win%, Trainer Starts, Win%, Combined Starts and Combined Win%.
Handicapping: Using this mode you can toggle between Fractional Pricing (6/1) and Sportsbook Pricing (+600).
Promo Tracker: In the Menu, if you click on Promotions, it will show you all current promotions. If you click Details of each Promotion there is a Tracker that will show you how much you have wagered and what % for each Promotion.
English / Spanish: Near the top of the Menu, you can now toggle between the platform showing up in English or Spanish.
