Santa Anita Park has added a $1 Place Pick 8 to its already robust, player friendly wagering menu for the 2026 Autumn Meet that gets underway Friday, Sept. 25.
The new Place Pick 8 challenges players to select a horse to win or finish second in each of the final eight races on the program. It will be offered every racing day throughout the 19-day Autumn Meet, which runs through Sunday, Nov. 1. If there are no winning tickets in the Place Pick 8, the pool carries over to the following day, creating the potential for significant pools and payouts.

The Place Pick 8 is the newest wager at Santa Anita featuring a player-friendly 15 percent takeout rate. Others include the $5 Late Daily Double, $3 Late Pick 3, $3 All-Turf Pick 3, $1 Coast-to-Coast Pick 5 and $1 Sunset Pick 6. The Late Daily Double covers the final two races on each card, while the Late Pick 3 encompasses the final three races. The All-Turf Pick 3 links the final three turf races on the program.
In addition to introducing the Place Pick 8, Santa Anita has also increased the minimum wager for all Pick 4’s to $1 from its previous base of 50 cents. There will be a $1 Early Pick 4 offered each race day starting with the second race and a $1 Late Pick 4 offered on the final four races. Additionally, on programs with more than 10 races, a $1 Middle Pick 4 will also be offered
The $1 Coast-to-Coast Pick 5 Returns
The $1 Coast-to-Coast Pick 5 will once again connect California and Florida racing, as it combines select races from Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park on days when both tracks are in action. The $1 Sunset Pick 6 also returns, challenging bettors to select the winners of the final three races at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park. Both the Coast-to-Coast Pick 5 and Sunset Pick 6 are exclusive to retail players only and offer no consolation payout. Instead, the net pool of both wagers will either be distributed entirely to tickets that have every winner or carried over to the next racing day.
Also returning to Santa Anita’s wagering is the traditional $2 Pick 6 offered on the last six races each race day. It will continue to pay out 70 percent of the total pool to tickets that have all six winners with the remaining 30 percent going to consolation payouts. If there are no tickets with six winners, 70 percent of the pool will then carry over to the next race day with the remainder paid out in consolations.
Santa Anita will also continue to offer “rolling” $2 Daily Doubles and $1 Pick 3s throughout each day’s program, providing players with multiple opportunities to get involved from start to finish.
Big pools will again be on the roster in both the 50-cent Early Pick 5 and 50-cent Late Pick 5. The Early Pick 5 features a low 14 percent takeout.
A $1 Super High 5 will be offered on the final race of each day’s card. Players must select the first five finishers in exact order, and if there are no perfect tickets, 100 percent of the pool will carry over to the following day’s Super High 5.
The Autumn Meet will also feature 10-cent Superfectas on all races with a minimum of six entrants, $1 Trifectas on races with a minimum of four runners, and $1 Exactas on every race.
